What Is Grass?

Grass is ultimately a plant which belongs to a family of other grass types. The family names are Poaceae, Cyperaceae and Juncaceae. There are over 10,000 different species of grass in total.

Grass is globally one of the most important flowering plants. The grains that are harvested from them, the shelter they provide for insects, and the countless animals that rely on it to graze on are a few of the many reasons why grass is so crucial to us and the world we live in.

Bentgrass

Agrostis is found in nearly every country in the world. It has been bred as a GMO creeping bent grass.

Perennial Ryegrass

Perennial Ryegrass is native to Europe, Asia and North Africa. It's official name is Lolium perenne but is also known as English ryegrass or winter ryegrass.

Common Couch

Elymus repens, also known as couch grass, is often considered a weed. It is native to Europe, Asia and parts of the Artic Biome.

Finger-grasses

Finger-grass, also known as crabgrass grow in clumps. They can spread quickly if left to flower and seed. Found in tropical, sub-tropical and cooler temperate regions.

Agrostis Stolonifera

Agrostis Stolonifera is another member of the Paoceae family. Used in garden grass but used widely for golf courses.

Scutch Grass

Cynodon dactylon, also known as Couch grass common in Australia & New Zealand. It is native to Europe, Africa, Australia, much of Asia and introduced to the Americas.
